At Books & Whimsy, we love bookschooling! What is bookschooling? It is a form of educating your child with lots of beautiful books combined with our guided research workbooks that lead children on a learning journey. It is a cozy way to homeschool. Here at Books & Whimsy we encourage diving down rabbit holes when the topic is interesting and the child wants to learn more!
As you study herbology, have your parents help you start an herbal apothecary. You can hang a few shelves that are not in direct sunlight. Begin your apothecary by filling mason jars with freshly bought herbs. Many common dried herbs are available on Amazon. Draw labels and mod podge them onto the front. This makes a beautiful display and is very useful. As you study herbs over the next few weeks, begin making a list of herbs you would like to grow.
Once you have learned about their benefits and uses, begin an herb garden. Fill it with your favorite herbs. You can start from seeds (we recommend Bakers Creek Heirloom Seeds), or buy plants at a nursery. There are so many fun things to make with herbs. You can make tea, body scrubs, lotions and more! Don't forget to have FUN!
